The Eufrosina Popescu Secondary School is located in Botoșești-Paia, a locality located in the NW part of Dolj county, on the border with Mehedinţi county, at a distance of 50 km from the city of Craiova. The beginning of education in the Botoşeşti-Paia commune has its roots in the 19th century, around 1825. The first teachers were teachers and priests of the church – as proof – the school and the church are built on a common land donated by one of the village boyars with love of culture.
The Eufrosina Popescu Secondary School has legal personality, also having a kindergarten with a normal program in Botoșești-Paia commune. The first school building was demolished and in its place, between 1930-1935, the current school building composed of ground floor and first floor was built, with 4 classrooms, a celebration hall and two smaller rooms for the chancellery and library. In 2003-2004, the school building was rehabilitated through the World Bank Program. By resizing and repartitioning the classrooms, 6 functional classrooms, chancellery, library, director’s office, accounting office were obtained.
Running water was introduced in the school premises and in the sanitary group. The school premises are composed of a single building where students from the eighth preparatory classes study.
